Notice of Withdrawn

I've used this as a crutch of late. I'm feeling rather exposed and I'm going to need some time. Time heals wounds and I'm going to be an LJ drama whore and say these are pretty deep, it's mostly an issue of trust. I know that the actions of a few people don't accurately reflect the majority but I'm rather hurt believing these people think on any level what they did was appropriate. It makes me uncomfortably ill to be treated with such disrespect. I'm expecting a year or 2 of video games followed by renewed political interest near the end that will end in the same disappointment. I'm not going to stop with the direct action. Fighting power where it hurts. Exposing the kind of activities of our congress that should be considered treasonous. Sticking up for the little guy. Voting with my dollars.
It's never going to be enough. One day I'm going to be a traveler. One day I'm going to have political conversations with people from around the planet. One day I'm going to be more self-sustainable and I'm going to teach others how to do it. One day that's going to feel like a greater accomplishment than giant walls of text on the internet. Until that day I'm going to get mine. Until that day I'm going to speak truth to power. I'm not going to apologize for myself. I'd just rather withdraw from this blog for a while. I need to get outside. I need to enjoy a video game. First world problems for life.

I've Always Been Called a Smart Ass
Oct. 8th, 2010 | 09:34 pm
Even since before I knew what a "smart ass" was. I always thought to myself, but doesn't that mean I'm smart? Why are people criticizing me for being smart? For having well reasoned arguments or witty comments that aren't untrue, how is this a bad quality?
Facebook has taught me that people don't want to hear it. That's why I'm an ass.

It Stuck With Me
Oct. 2nd, 2010 | 07:16 pm
The director of the facebook movie was interview by Steven Colbert. He said that people who post on the site in many ways are trying to reinvent themselves. I'm beginning to think he's right.

Senate vote on extending the Bush Tax cuts completely unpaid for
This is a measure that would add 3.1 trillion dollars, $3,100,000,000,000, to the national debt over the next 10 years, it will be given away primarily to the richest of the richest people in this country, and we will never get it back. Even if you thought that a 3.1 trillion tax reduction was so drastically necessary, why would you not pay for it? They hate America. Or at least, the people in it. Gee I wonder how social security went bankrupt, it's the same group of irresponsible kids that were bribed by the rich people to act as their puppets. They are just figure heads, and will likely be replaced, but still, gtfo of my elected official plz.
If any of these demons get reelected into office, there is no hope for the senate.

Heroes

It takes guts to stand up to the military industrial complex, well that and some kind of magical money fairy so you're not dependent on begging them for campaign money. These senators are heroes.

Clearly from the 18-80 vote it's not popular to want to end our "war" in Afghanistan in the congress, but I think it's important to note both Washington senators were for this, and going forward that should be kept. I have my doubts that Rossi would break with his party to vote for this, and while Murray might not be the shining star of the left, I think on votes like this shows that if she can come out on top at the primary she deserves this seat way more than the republican establishment. Cantwell has been impressive recently as well.
Umm also they may or may not have capped the well in the Gulf of Oil and it would also appear that BP no longer has any authority over fixing this mess. The free market could not protect it's investments, and could not protect the environment, and now require the government to bail them out. I guess this means the press will be allowed to report on it now right? The focus will shift to how we clean 36 million gallons of oil, which based on the lower estimate of 25,000 barrels a day seems reasonable. There are reports that the number could be 3-4 times that amount, then also throw on about a half million gallons of some new dispersant, and the possibility of 14 hurricanes this season and it's a recipe for disaster. If anything, I hope we learn from this that oil is one of the most dangerous fuels we can possibly use. We kill each other in great numbers over it, it destroys entire bodies of water, it's wreaking havoc on our lungs and giving many of us cancer through our water supply. It's time to remove this cancer from our society. We can blame BP for this, we can throw every single responsible party in jail and it's not going to stop oil from continuing to destroy our way of life. The only way for us to rise above this conflict is to rise above a dependence on oil, this isn't one persons fault, it's our fault (not that I wouldn't feel justice seeing Tony Hayworth in handcuffs and prison garb).
